✨ Youth for Energy Southeast Asia (Y4E-SEA) Hosts Internal Capacity Building (ICB) Event: Navigating Energy Investment and Financing in Southeast Asia ✨

On August 30th, 2024, Youth for Energy Southeast Asia (Y4E-SEA) successfully held its inaugural Internal Capacity Building (ICB) event, staying true to our mission of empowering Southeast Asian youth. This event marked a significant milestone in advancing our members’ skills and knowledge in the energy sector. Through the ICB, we provided participants with an opportunity to hone their critical thinking and apply their insights to real-world challenges.

The ICB program is designed to enhance the expertise, skills, and capacity of our working team members, foster dialogue and knowledge-sharing with expert speakers, and equip participants with practical tools for creating effective financing strategies for energy projects. Organized by Y4ESEA's Internal Affairs team, the ICB is a core initiative aimed at supporting our members' growth, and it will be held twice a year. In addition to ICB, we offer a variety of other programs, including group discussions, free webinars, and opportunities to attend global energy conferences.

The theme of ICB-Vol 1 was “Navigating Energy Investment and Financing in Southeast Asia”, featuring key topics such as the Energy Investment Landscape, Financing Mechanisms and Models, Regulatory Environment, and a Future Outlook of the sector. Jordan Lee, Manager at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and an expert in energy transition strategy and policy, served as the guest speaker. His insights into sustainable energy investment provided members with a deep understanding of the latest trends and practices shaping the energy industry.

In the final part of the session, participants were divided into two groups for a dynamic role-playing exercise, where they acted as the governments of Vietnam and the Philippines. Each group was tasked with formulating policy ideas and financial strategies aimed at attracting climate investment. This hands-on experience generated enthusiasm and active engagement from all attendees, creating an energetic and collaborative learning environment.

The enthusiasm from our members throughout the event reflects the passion and commitment that drives Youth for Energy Southeast Asia. We are excited to continue this journey with more impactful programs, and we invite all young Southeast Asians interested in energy to join us in shaping the future of the region's energy landscape.

Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming events!
